“We are successful when we have provided you with the sense of confidence and stability you need to pursue what inspires you. We believe that you deserve to work with experienced and credentialed financial advisors who are just as committed to your priorities, dreams, and success as you are. We often work with families and individuals who are already successful, but have not made their important financial issues a priority, leaving them concerned over gaps in their financial plan and worried that they be missing out on important opportunities.”
John Macukas brings more than 20 years of investment and wealth planning experience to helping successful families and individuals. He helps them pursue what’s really possible in their lives – a life of significance, caring for the people they love, generously giving to the causes that inspire them, and creating a lasting, multigenerational legacy.
Prior to pursuing his career as a financial advisor, John completed an advanced degree as a professional musician and educator and served as a music industry executive for more than two decades. Lessons learned from managing multi-million-dollar organizational budgets and producing concerts, recordings, and national and international tours include recognizing the power and value of money, the advantages of detailed planning and preparation, and understanding the needs and primary concerns of successful families and individuals.
John earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® certification from the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc., which identifies those individuals who have met the experience requirements of the CFP Board, have successfully completed financial planning coursework, and have passed the CFP® Certification Examination.
John is especially proud of the fact that he and his wife and best friend, Mary, have been successful business partners since 2008. They both are passionate about giving back to and supporting the community, John currently serves on the board of directors for the Museum of New Mexico Foundation. He has previously served on the board of directors for the MS Society, Hampton Roads Estate Planning Council, the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, and the Rotary Clubs of both Chesapeake, Virginia, and Santa Fe, New Mexico. John and Mary also actively support the Santa Fe Opera and the Santa Fe Symphony.
In his spare time, John enjoys reading about music, history, and philosophy. He enjoys playing guitar, walking with their dogs, learning and observing the night sky, and hiking throughout the foothills of the beautiful Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

Mary is proud to be active in the community, serving on the board of directors of The Santa Symphony Orchestra and Chorus and The Santa Fe Community Foundation. She served as past chairwoman of the St. Vincent Hospital Foundation board of directors and as a member of CHRISTUS St. Vincent Hospital board. She also previously served on the board of the Cancer Foundation for New Mexico, Solace Crisis Treatment Center, the Norfolk SPCA, the Hampton Roads Estate Planning Council, and the Hampton Roads Gift Planning Council.
Experience
Mary began her wealth management career during one of the most difficult periods in financial history – 2008. Those difficult months instilled in her the importance of providing a high level of communication with her clients and identifying targeted strategies that not only address their tolerance for market risk and volatility, but also their life goals – for their pursuit of leading the life they envision.
Prior to joining Stifel in 2020, Mary served her clients at UBS Financial Services. Her desire to become a financial advisor was shaped by having spent more than 20 years working with donors and their advisors to design and manage goals-based charitable estate plans. During this time, she worked at a children’s hospital, a university, and a symphonic music organization.
Philosophy
Mary recognizes that her clients have entrusted her with helping them pursue the financial future they envision. She understands that in the process of building their lives, clients may not have made their financial issues a priority. As she is dedicated to helping clients work toward their goals, Mary’s intention is to provide a sense of confidence and stability through collaborative and personalized wealth management.
“Every client deserves to know how much I care and that they are my priority; that I will work with them to build for their future and plan for it with intention.”
Personal
Mary, along with her husband and business partner, John, live in Santa Fe with their four-legged menagerie.
“What we’re known for is helping clients prioritize their finances so they can stay focused on what they do best and the things they love most.”
